I Made $2729 Online As a Pakistani Medical Student Without Any Experience — Here’s How
Earn in dollars without any experience
At the end of 2023, I was going through pretty bad depression and some health issues, so I dropped many freelance writing gigs.
I couldn’t just take on more work along with my medical studies.
I didn’t like working for other people’s businesses and was tired of getting paid peanuts.
Now, almost no one talks about how hard it is for non-Americans to make money online. It’s like the internet is biased, too, with opportunities.
Often, when you try to sign up for paid surveys or sites and they make sure to tell you that you are an outsider and cannot do it.
FEELS LIKE AAAAAAAAAAGHHHHH.
The same goes for payment gateways. You cannot expect payouts from so many companies because they support PayPal or Stripe. And guess what?
My country doesn’t support either, tada.
So damn there goes my luck.
Shortly after, my LinkedIn Account was banned for unknown violations.
They didn’t reply to any emails I sent them, and I lost my clients, audience, and even my online presence.
(Dear LinkedIn, why consumer service so poopy?)
The bad thing? I was Miserable
The good thing? My LinkedIn was gone, and I needed to do something fast. I had lost my income means.
There’s this quote in the movie SING that has always inspired me a lot:
You know what’s great about hitting rock bottom? There’s only one way left to go, and that’s up!
Medium was bombarded with “make money like this or that posts”
People couldn’t stop sharing their earnings on Instagram. It felt like everyone was making money online except me.
So I started watching YouTube videos, signing up for free courses, and even hoarding free ebooks to make money online.
Nothing worked.
It’s not as easy as it seems when it comes to making money online. People might tell or convince you otherwise, even bait you with overnight money-making schemes.
It’s all CROWSHIT. Did I mention scams? It is harder for students without specific skills or degrees.
I saw a bunch of housewives promoting affiliate marketing courses on Instagram and getting payouts of $1000 per day.
It didn’t make sense at all. How can something pay you so much? That too passively???
IT WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.
BUT KNOWING HOW STUPID I AM:
I finally decided to give affiliate marketing a try.
AFFILIATE MARKETING
Although affiliate marketing attracted me a LOT, I had no idea how it worked, where to START, or what to expect (experience-wise).
ESPECIALLY BEING A PAKISTANI.
IN A NUTSHELL, HERE’S WHAT I LEARNT
“When you promote products created by other people, and if they buy through your specific link (reference), you get a commission from the total sale.”
Let’s say something is for $80, and the vendor (the seller) says to the affiliate, “If you make a sale for this product, I’ll give you 3% of it”.
so $80 x 3% = $2.4 will be yours
The concept is pretty easy at a glance, isn’t it?
That’s what I thought until I realized it’s not simple and there’s no one way to do it.
Pretty much, you can use 80 ways (hehe exaggeration) to promote your affiliate links.
- WAYS TO DO AFFILIATE MARKETING
- You can spend a bit of money and promote through ads.
- You can create an Instagram or TikTok account and promote through reels.
- You can create an Excel sheet with “products I love” (affiliate links) and promote it on LinkedIn.
- You can create blog posts on Substack, Medium, or even your own, and promote your affiliate links through posts.
- You can create a freebie, a funnel system, and promote through emails.
- + a few more
But now the question arises?
WHAT SYSTEM IS BEST?
WHAT WILL PAY ME THE MOST?
WHAT’s EASIEST TO OPERATE?
As a beginner, it’s certainly tough to pick one system and make it work while thinking that another might work better.
So I narrowed down to 2 options that I felt were doable for me because I still don’t know how to make and post reels on Instagram, and I have no courage to spend money and run ads.
The only thing I knew was WRITING.
Then I took a $7 email marketing course and signed up for a few beginner-friendly affiliate programs.
I started writing about the product reviews and added my affiliate links in all the posts I was writing.
Then I also set up an email automation with a freebie; my emails with affiliate links were sent to anyone who signed up for my free affiliate marketing ebook.
I focused on a single problem my audience was facing and suggested my affiliate product as the solution to that problem.
Nothing happened in the first month, and nothing happened in the second month.
Then a day came, I was eating lunch, and this email popped up:
The money was less, but I was over the moon. Excited, hyperactive, and nervous.
My first thought was:
If it can happen once, it can happen twice. If it can happen twice, it can happen 4 times and just keep multiplying…
And that proved me right, just in 33 days, I made $2729. My Medium posts started to get traction from Google and Medium distribution.
More people who read my posts clicked on my affiliate links and bought from my links.
So I started to structure a system, and you can do it without spending any money. Here’s how it went:
Exact process:
- I chose a niche (money-making niche)
- Signed up for affiliate networks (digistore24, systeme.io marketplace, etc). Networks that are Pakistan bank account friendly.
- Found high-converting and recurring offers (pays you monthly).
- Signed up for a free Systeme.io account.
- Created a squeeze page or a freebie page (easy peasy, just edited a template from the systeme.io)
- Offered a free mini guide related to affiliate marketing (you can use AI to create this if you aren’t a writer)
- Then I set up an email autoresponder that automatically sends a series of emails to the people who signed up for the freebie.
- I added my affiliate links to those emails.
- Sending little tips, free resources, or insights related to the freebie they downloaded.
- Slowly nudging my audience towards my affiliate products that can help them more.
That’s it! Now, you can make sales while you sleep.
SO I use my medium posts to promote my freebie, and when someone gets my freebie, it pushes them to get my affiliate products.
